OpticSathi AI: An AI Sales Assistant for Optical Shops

Three pairs of metal eyeglass frames displayed on cream blocks

OpticSathi AI (Beta) is an AI sales assistant used at the optical shop counter, inside Opticdigit. It explains lens types, coatings and frame materials to customers in simple words, so your staff can answer every question, help the customer choose and sell spectacles with confidence. We make Opticdigit, so read this as our own description of a feature that is still in Beta.

OpticSathi AI is in Beta on Premium (₹7,000 a year) and above, and coming soon to Basic.

Why customers struggle to choose lenses and frames

A customer comes in with a prescription and wants "good glasses". Then the questions start:

Most customers have never heard words like "high-index" or "hydrophobic". If the answer sounds like jargon, they pick the cheapest option or leave to "think about it". Experienced staff explain well, but they cannot be at every counter, and new staff often do not know the answers yet. This gap is where many lens and coating sales are lost.

What OpticSathi AI explains

OpticSathi AI covers the three things a customer has to choose: the lens, the coating and the frame. Here is the kind of plain explanation a customer hears.

Lens types

Lens typeWhat the customer hears
Single visionOne power across the whole lens, for either distance or reading. The simplest and most common lens.
BifocalTwo powers in one lens: distance on top and a small reading area at the bottom, with a visible line between them.
ProgressiveDistance at the top, computer and arm's-length in the middle, reading at the bottom, with no visible line. It takes a few days to get used to.
Blue-cutFilters part of the blue light from phone, computer and LED screens. Many people like it for screen comfort.
PhotochromicClear indoors and darkens outdoors in sunlight. It reacts to UV light, so it darkens less inside a car, where the windscreen blocks most UV.
High-indexMade from a denser material, so the lens is thinner and lighter. Most useful for high powers.
PolycarbonateLight and highly impact resistant. A good choice for children and sports.

Coatings

CoatingWhat the customer hears
Anti-reflectiveCuts reflections on the lens, so vision is clearer, glare from headlights at night is reduced and your eyes show clearly in photos.
Blue lightA coating that reflects part of the blue light from screens. You may see a faint blue or purple reflection on the lens.
HydrophobicWater, dust and fingerprints slide off more easily, so the lens stays cleaner and is easier to wipe.
Scratch-resistantA hard coat that helps the lens resist everyday scratches. It reduces scratches but does not make the lens scratch-proof.

Frame materials and styles

FrameWhat the customer hears
MetalSlim and classic, with adjustable nose pads for a good fit.
TitaniumVery light, strong and does not rust. Good for all-day wear and for people whose skin reacts to some metals.
TR90A flexible, light plastic that bends without breaking. Popular for children and active users.
AcetateA rich plastic with deep colours and patterns. Feels solid and premium, and can be adjusted with gentle heat.
Full-rimThe frame goes all around the lens. The strongest style, and it hides thick lens edges for high powers.
Supra (half-rim)Rim only on the top; the bottom of the lens is held by a thin nylon thread. Lighter and more open look.
RimlessNo rim; the lens is drilled and fixed with small screws. The lightest, almost invisible look, but it needs careful handling.

How it works at the counter, step by step

  1. The customer brings a prescription from their eye test, and your staff saves it in Opticdigit as usual.
  2. Staff open OpticSathi AI on the counter phone or tablet. On Premium Pro it runs on the shop's own counter tablet, facing the customer.
  3. The customer's question is answered in simple words, for example "What is the difference between bifocal and progressive?" or "Why should I pay for anti-reflective?"
  4. The customer compares options for lens, coating and frame, and understands why a better option costs more.
  5. Staff help the customer choose and suggest a useful add-on, such as anti-reflective for night driving or a lighter high-index lens for a high power.
  6. Staff finish the bill in Opticdigit, with the eye power on the bill, and share it on WhatsApp.

OpticSathi AI is in Beta, so screens and wording can change as we improve it. We show the current version in the demo.

How it helps staff sell better

Pair it with salesman incentives on Premium and above, and staff have both the knowledge and the reason to sell the right lens. For more ideas, read how to increase optical shop sales.

How it helps new staff learn faster

New staff usually learn lens types and coatings by watching seniors for weeks. With OpticSathi AI at the counter, they hear the same simple explanation the customer hears, again and again, and pick up the basics while they work. Senior staff spend less time answering the same questions, and the owner worries less about who is at the counter.
