Optical POS Software in India (2026): Counter Billing, Barcodes and Printing for Optical Shops

Opticdigit mobile printer with two pairs of eyeglasses

Optical POS software is the billing system at your counter, built for the way an optical shop sells: scan the frame, add the lens, save the customer's eye power, take an advance, and print or WhatsApp a GST bill. We recommend **Opticdigit** as an optical POS because it does all of this on an **iPhone, iPad or Android phone or tablet, on Windows and Mac desktop apps, or in the web app**, from **₹2,500 a year** for one shop up to **Opticdigit Enterprise** for chains, and **Premium Pro includes a 2-in-1 bill and barcode printer**. We make Opticdigit, so we have tried to be specific about what it does and does not do.

What an optical shop POS system has to do

In a supermarket, a POS scans an item, takes payment and prints a receipt. An optical shop does more at the counter:

A general retail POS can make the bill. An optical POS also remembers the prescription and the order.

How a sale works on Opticdigit

A typical counter sale takes a few steps:

  1. Find or add the customer by mobile number. Their past powers and purchases appear.
  2. Enter or confirm the eye power for both eyes.
  3. Scan the frame barcode. The item and price are added.
  4. Add the lens and coating, for example a blue-cut or progressive lens from your lab.
  5. Apply an offer or discount if one is running.
  6. Record the advance if the lenses are being ordered.
  7. Print the bill on the Bluetooth printer or send it on WhatsApp in one tap from your shop's own number.

When the glasses are ready, open the bill, take the balance and close it. Stock drops automatically, and low-stock alerts tell you when to reorder.

Hardware: what you need at the counter

You do not need a special computer, a local server or a technician. Use the counter devices you already have.

Why a 2-in-1 printer matters

Most optical shops need two kinds of printing: bills for customers and barcode labels for frames. Buying two printers costs more and takes more counter space. The 2-in-1 printer on Premium Pro prints both. Because it comes from the same team as the software, setup and support come from one place: if something does not print, you call one number.

On Premium Pro, our team also does a full stock import and labelling for you, so the barcodes are ready when the printer arrives. See barcode stock management for optical shops.

POS plus the rest of the shop

A POS that only bills leaves you with the same problems as before. Opticdigit connects the counter to the rest of the shop:

Frequently asked questions

What is optical POS software?

Optical POS (point of sale) software is the billing system at your counter, built for an optical shop. It scans frame barcodes, creates GST bills, saves the customer's eye power with the bill, records advance and balance for lens orders, and prints or sends the bill.

Which is the best optical shop POS system in India?

We recommend Opticdigit, which we make. It works as an optical POS on an iPhone, iPad or Android phone or tablet, on a Windows PC or Mac with the desktop app, or in the web app, with barcode scan billing, GST bills, eye power on the bill, Bluetooth printing and one-tap WhatsApp bills. Plans start at ₹2,500 a year for one shop, and Opticdigit Enterprise covers chains with 7 or more branches.

Can Opticdigit be used as optical showroom software?

Yes. A showroom with several counters and salesmen can bill on phones, tablets or desktop PCs at the same time, scan frame barcodes, and give each salesman a login from Premium, with commission per frame, lens or brand and a leaderboard. Premium Pro and Pro Ultra add unlimited staff and a 2-in-1 bill and barcode printer, and Opticdigit Enterprise covers chains with 7 or more showrooms.

Do I need a computer for an optical POS?

Not with Opticdigit. An Android phone or tablet with the Opticdigit app and a Bluetooth printer is a complete counter setup. Opticdigit also has a native iPhone/iPad app, Windows and Mac desktop apps, and a web app at app.opticdigit.com, with no local server.

Does Opticdigit come with a printer?

Premium Pro (₹14,999 for the first year, then ₹9,999 a year) and Pro Ultra (₹34,999 a year) include a 2-in-1 bill and barcode printer that is yours to keep, with a starter pack of rolls and stickers. On Basic and Premium you can print from any Opticdigit app to a Bluetooth printer you buy.

Does Opticdigit take UPI or card payments?

You take payment the way you do today, with your UPI QR, card machine or cash. Opticdigit records the bill, the advance and the balance due.

Can the POS work when the internet goes down?

Yes. Offline billing works on every plan, and bills sync when the connection is back.

Can I scan barcodes with Opticdigit?

Yes. Every plan lets you print barcode labels for frames, lenses and solutions and scan them to add items to the bill.
