The optical shop daily checklist: opening to closing

Small things decide whether a day at the counter feels calm or chaotic: an order that wasn't chased, a balance that wasn't collected, a frame that ran out. Ten minutes of routine at each end of the day prevents most of them.
Opening (10 minutes)
- Check today's deliveries due and call the lab about anything not ready.
- Look at today's reminders: eye tests due, glasses ready, contact lens reorders.
- Charge the billing tablet or laptop and the printer; check paper rolls.
- Clean the display, mirrors and testing equipment.
During the day
- Bill every sale, including small items, so stock stays right.
- Record advances and the promised delivery date on every order.
- Save each eye test with the customer's mobile number.
- Message customers as soon as their glasses are ready.
Closing (10 minutes)
- Match cash and UPI totals with the day's bills.
- List pending balances and orders not collected.
- Note low-stock items for tomorrow's order.
- Back up data, or check your software has synced.
Weekly
- Count one section of stock.
- Review frames that haven't sold in 90 days.
- Follow up on glasses ready but not collected for more than a week.
Opticdigit's dashboard shows today's sales, invoices, low-stock items and follow-ups on one screen, so the opening and closing checks take a glance instead of a register.
